| At first, I was disappointed about missing the election. I'm currently back home in Switzerland (2 weeks of vacation, just ending today), but flying back today in just a few hours. I know this sounds cheesy, but in a way it's nice to come back to the US with new hope. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| Just got back from my annual trip to California (I'm now calling it annual because I have been to the bay area once a year the past 4 years). Fun, though very busy trip: seeing friends, SF site-seeing & shopping, snowboarding in Lake Tahoe, gambling, wine tasting in Napa, Seabound at DNA Lounge, coffee in Berkley.. and a whole lot of eating, drinking & fun in-between :) Ah, I love the bay area. Now I am back in Boston, where we are still seeing winter temperatures and there is yet ANY green to be seen on trees and grass... It's April, for the love of chlorophyll!! Yes, I love winter, but when April hits, I'm done liking it.
So apparently Jet Blue doesn't offer pillows & blankets on some of their red eye flights anymore. I found a lot of complaints on forums online about this and decided to file a complaint with Jet Blue directly, letting them know that I was extremely uncomfortable and very cold (even though my coat was draped over me) on the red eye flight from Oakland to Boston. Maybe it would have been warmer away from the window (which felt drafty), but I really felt frozen when I arrived. Is it a matter of cutting costs? Maybe they could find ways that would not greatly impact their client's comfort. Let's see what they have to say. I don't know why I forgot my own neck-pillow-thingie, but a simple pillow and blanket would have gone a long way. Oh, and no, I don't ever ever ever wear flip-flops, shorts/skirts & tank tops like some other crazy people do when they fly. Even on a day flight (when not completely tired & exhausted) I'd freeze to death. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| I spent an hour at the Apple Store yesterday. I think I'm going to buy a 2.4 GHz 24-inch imac. Yikes? My annoying Compaq laptop is almost 4yrs old.. it's time to upgrade. Maybe I should be saving my tax return, but perhaps this will also contribute to stimulating the economy or whatnot. I'd also get a USB TV tuner dongle, which means the imac would also replace my crappy old ~20" TV.
What's the latest on those economic stimulus checks by the way... the other day, I was just reading about msnbc's tips on how to spend an economic stimulus check:
1. Start that emergency fund, pronto. 2. Wrestle your bills to the ground. 3. Pay down credit-card debt. 4. Invest in the future. 5. Invest in your potential. 6. Don’t let your house sink you. 7. Give your ride a little TLC. 8. If you’re going to buy something, make it worthwhile. 9. Do your part to combat poverty. 10. Recharge your batteries. get one of those economic stimulus checks.
The top six are good, everyday, common-sense financial steps we should all be taking anyway, so there's no arguing with them. The rest round out the "don't blow it on just anything but still spend it" sort of thinking. And now, a rebuttal to these suggestions from the federal government. Here's what they want you to do with your check: spend it. On anything, though preferably, something American made....
...so looking at this list, an imac could be #8 maybe? :) Hey, at least it's on the list.. and it's American made, I suppose.
All I need to do is make the final decision.
Any suggestions for/against buying an imac? | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| 1 month after my ipod decided to die (but yes i was lucky to have an extended warranty from best buy and got the "defect" battery replaced by apple at no additional cost within 3 weeks), my canon S410 decides to beep and throw an E18 error at me with no luck at starting anymore. tricks i found online didn't work. I bought it 3.5 yrs ago.. well, thank the 4yr best buy extended warranty again. it's with the geek squad now. i'm a geek squad frequent customer this month.
no more bad luck with electronics, please.

| Yeah, my 4.5 hour commute/drive home Thursday afternoon (what normally takes 25 minutes door to door) did suck big time.
But man, do I lovelovelove big snowstorms.
Can't wait to hit the slopes soon.. | comments: Leave a comment |

| Hrmpf. My photo ipod started freezing a couples times here and there when trying to select songs in the past month or two. I'd have to force a 'reboot', which sometimes didn't even work so I'd just let it sit until it got tired of hanging or shut off because the battery gave up (!). Suddenly it wouldn't start up again. I saw the frowny ipod face once or twice before nothing happened again with a link to tech support. None of the recommendations on the site helped either. Then I remembered having bought an extended warranty when I purchased it 2 years ago at Best Buy. Off to the geek squad it went yesterday. So.... if they can't fix it, I wonder if they will give me a NEW replacement.. ? Or store credit? I need to read up on how the warranty thing works. While I'm sad that my ipod is in repair until the end of December (ugh, withdrawals in the car), I'm also secretly hoping that they can't fix it and I somehow luck out and get a new one. I actually paid more for my 20GB photo ipod 2 years ago than the current classic 80GB costs.
Oh, and snow makes me so very happy. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
